At Spiral Elevators Ltd, we design the solution that actually solves your problem not the cheapest option that creates a new one. Air cooling can be integrated into a spiral elevator, but it’s not a guaranteed cooling method. Its effectiveness depends on ambient room temperature, airflow volume, dwell time, and the incoming product temperature and load. In many cases, it’s unsuitable and a poor investment compared to engineered cooling such as water-jacket or vortex systems.
If you’re seeing light surface heat or minor condensation, air cooling may help. If you need predictable, rapid temperature drop, we’ll recommend a better system so you don’t “save pennies” but pay for it in downtime and waste.
Key Features
• Integrated fans/blowers along the spiral path for continuous conditioning.
• Adjustable airflow and nozzle positioning to target hot spots or wet surfaces.
• Optional enclosures & filtration to manage dust and hygiene.
• Compact footprint vs. separate conveyor + cooler.
• Upgradeable path: can be designed to retrofit water-jacket or vortex modules later.
Industry Applications
Food & Beverage – Cooling roasted coffee beans, separating flour, sugar, grains, spices
Pharmaceutical – Screening and cooling powders, granules, and tablet components
Chemicals & Plastics – Cooling resins, pellets, and powder blends before packaging
Metals & Foundry – Cooling castings, removing fines from sand, separating scrap
Recycling & Waste Management – Sorting dry or cooled recyclables for reuse
We Solve Your Processing Problems
Tell us what you’re dealing with — hot pellets, lightly warm packs, surface moisture, or space constraints. We’ll assess heat load, duty cycle, target discharge temperature, and room conditions, then specify air, water-jacket, vortex, or a hybrid so it works first time.
When Air Cooling Makes Sense
• Low heat to dissipate: products entering only slightly above ambient.
• Condensation removal: airstream helps evaporate light surface moisture.
• Packaging stabilisation: gentle airflow to cool thin films or pouches.
• Dry environments with good HVAC control: stable ambient = more predictable results.
If you need a reliable drop from high temperatures, air alone is rarely sufficient. Choose engineered cooling.
How it Works
Infeed
Product enters the spiral at a modest temperature above ambient or with light surface moisture.
Vibration Conveying
Motors elevate (or decline) product while exposing maximum surface area.
Directed Airflow
Fans or air knives deliver controlled airflow across the product path to remove light heat and evaporate condensation.
Optional Enclosure
Ducted sections improve flow consistency and hygiene.
Discharge
Product exits closer to room temperature or with drier surfaces, provided ambient and load are suitable.
