How Do JOEST Unbalanced Motors Work?


A single JOEST unbalanced motor generates circular vibration through rotating eccentric weights.


When two matching motors are installed and operated in opposite directions, the unwanted horizontal forces cancel each other out while the required forces combine. This produces controlled linear vibration and is a common drive arrangement for vibrating feeders, linear screens and conveyors.


The oscillation amplitude can be adjusted while the motors are switched off by changing the position of the centrifugal weights. Where the installation permits it, operating frequency can also be controlled using a suitable frequency converter.


This adjustability allows the vibration to be matched more closely to the material, machine and required throughput.
